Kazakhstan’s Republic Day celebrated in Bern

Bern, October 24 - The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland held a reception at the Bellevue Palace hotel in Bern to celebrate Republic Day. Among the guests were members of parliament, Swiss government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organisations, business circles and the media, as well as Kazakhs living in Switzerland.
During the official part of the reception, the national anthems of Kazakhstan, Switzerland and Liechtenstein were traditionally performed. In his welcoming speech, Ambassador Kairat Sarzhanov stressed that Kazakh-Swiss cooperation continues to develop successfully. Testimony to this is the number of bilateral visits that have taken place, and are planned for this year, to discuss prospects and reach agreements on strengthening interaction in the fields of the economy, law, science and technology, and education, as well as on expanding regional ties.
The Ambassador emphasized that Switzerland continues to be one of the leading investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. In this regard, he noted that the transformations being carried out in the Republic of Kazakhstan open up new opportunities for deepening mutually beneficial partnerships with Switzerland and Liechtenstein in the field of digital technologies, transport and logistics, energy and other areas.
The Director of the Eurasia Division of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Pierre-Yves Fux, noted that Kazakhstan is a reliable partner of Switzerland in the Central Asian region, and highly valued the reforms being implemented in the country.
The artists of the Kyzylorda Regional Philharmonic presented a concert program. National songs and dances, and works by famous authors of Kazakhstan were performed. At the reception, guests were offered dishes of national cuisine.
The event was organized with the support of KMG Trading, Glencore and Stadler.
