Inter-Parliamentary Relations Between Kazakhstan and Korea Deepen

Seoul, October 27, 2025 — Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Woo Won Shik, during which the two sides discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting took place in conjunction with an event dedicated to the memory of Korea’s national hero, General Hong Beom Do, and the premiere of a documentary film about his life and legacy.

In his remarks, Ambassador Arystanov highlighted the symbolic significance of General Hong Beom Do as a historical bridge of friendship between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Korea. He underscored the political decision of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to transfer the remains of the general to the Republic of Korea during his state visit to Seoul in 2021.

The Kazakh diplomat noted the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary relations, the active engagement between the friendship groups of the two countries, and the vast potential for further cooperation across various fields. He expressed gratitude to Speaker Woo Won Shik and Chairman of the Kazakhstan–Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group Park Hong Keun for their valuable contribution to strengthening bilateral relations.

In his turn, Speaker Woo Won Shik commended the steady progress in Kazakhstan–Korea relations and expressed readiness to further expand inter-parliamentary collaboration.

In addition, Samsung Electronics President Park Seunghee, who attended the event, highlighted the successful launch of the company’s new plant in Kazakhstan, where the production of smart TVs and washing machines has been established. This project represents an important step toward enhancing industrial and technological partnership between the two nations.

Both sides expressed confidence in further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership through the development of parliamentary diplomacy, expansion of humanitarian exchanges, and business cooperation.

The event once again reaffirmed the successful collaboration between Kazakhstan and Korea, opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
