A New Impetus to Kazakhstan – UAE Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence

Abu Dhabi, October 29, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, Rauan Zhumabek, held a meeting with Professor Timothy Baldwin, Provost of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, and artificial intelligence.

Ambassador R.Zhumabek emphasized the prominent role of MBZUAI as one of the leading global centers for research and development in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing.

Professor Baldwin commended Kazakhstan’s efforts aimed at modernizing its higher education system, fostering scientific research, and the strategic focus of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on advancing artificial intelligence technologies.

In this context, it was noted that the visit of the Head of State to the United Arab Emirates on January 13–15, 2025, and his meeting with representatives of leading institutions and companies in the field of artificial intelligence, gave a significant impetus to the development of Kazakhstan –UAE cooperation in innovation and high technology.

During that visit, President K.Tokayev underscored the importance of harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence to modernize the national economy, enhance the efficiency of public administration, and improve the quality of life of citizens.

Both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in strengthening partnerships through the implementation of joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and the establishment of joint laboratories and initiatives in the field of AI ethics and governance.

The parties agreed to hold follow-up consultations with the participation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan to discuss practical measures aimed at further developing bilateral cooperation
