ASEAN and Central Asia: A Bridge of Cooperation through Kazakhstan and Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 29 October 2025 - The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, H.E. Bulat Sugurbayev, met with YB Wong Chen, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on International Relations and Trade.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the outcomes of the recent ASEAN Summit, focusing on deepening regional cooperation, strengthening trade and economic ties, and promoting sustainable development.
Both sides exchanged views on prospects for collaboration in trade, logistics, digitalisation, tourism, education, and other areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Sugurbayev briefed Wong Chen on Kazakhstan’s investment climate, measures to attract foreign investment, and opportunities for joint projects in transport corridors, renewable energy, the agro-industrial complex, and technology exchange.
Wong Chen highlighted Kazakhstan’s advantageous geostrategic location and its well-developed network of dry ports, noting the strong potential for sharing best practices in logistics and trade infrastructure.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening inter-parliamentary and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
