Kazakhstan and Botswana established diplomatic relations
02.11.2025 11:10:39 150New York, October 30, 2025 – The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations, Kairat Umarov, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Botswana to the United Nations, Charles Masole, signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Botswana.
This document marks a new chapter in the history of relations between the two countries. Kazakhstan and Botswana reaffirmed their intention to develop and strengthen relations of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation based on the principles of international law and the UN Charter, in particular, mutual respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, equality among states, and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
Recognizing the potential of both nations, the parties identified key areas for trade and economic cooperation, including agriculture, the energy sector, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, tourism, transport, and logistics. Kazakhstan also confirmed its readiness to share its expertise in the development of green energy and higher education.
The two parties emphasized the similarity of their approaches to many issues on the international agenda, as well as shared values and goals, including the promotion of peace, sustainable development, and prosperity for both nations. They agreed to further strengthen constructive cooperation on multilateral platforms, including within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
Botswana has become the 190th country with which Kazakhstan has established diplomatic relations, reflecting the steady expansion of Kazakhstan’s international engagement and partnership network.
