On October 29, 2025, Magzhanov M.Zh., a representative of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Almaty Region, participated in an operational meeting to review the work of Institution No. 57 of the Department of the Penitentiary System for the Almaty and Zhetisu Regions.

During the operational meeting, Magzhanov M.Zh. briefed the staff of Institution No. 57 on the main provisions of the "Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman, and Degrading Treatment or Punishment," ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 29, 1998.

In addition, in his speech, the representative of the Human Rights Commissioner touched upon the issues of strict observance of the rights of convicts serving sentences in places of detention, the inadmissibility of the use of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of convicts, as well as the prescribed liability for such violations.
