Photo exhibition on Kazakhstan opens in Indonesian Parliament for the first time

Jakarta, November 4, 2025 – With the aim to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation, for the first time in the history of bilateral relations the solemn opening of the photo exhibition “Harmony in Diversity: Indonesia and Kazakhstan” took place in the House of Representatives of Indonesia, which was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jakarta.

The event was attended by Indonesian parliamentarians from various committees, members of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Kazakhstan, as well as staff of the secretariat of the Indonesian legislative body.

The exhibition featured the most beautiful natural landscapes and futuristic views of Kazakhstan’s cities, as well as memorable photos reflected the history of the development of bilateral ties between the two countries.

In his welcoming remarks, Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Dr. Mardani Ali Sera, noted the importance of such a photo exhibition as a tool to strengthen public diplomacy, mutual understanding and cultural exchange.

Chairman of the Indonesian-Kazakh Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. I Wayan Sudirta, emphasized the high level and active dialogue with Kazakhstan – respected middle power and economic leader of Central Asia.

In his turn, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Serzhan Abdykarimov, having congratulated the legislators on the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, thanked the leadership of the Parliament for supporting this initiative of the Embassy and for fostering close cooperation with Kazakhstan. The diplomat highlighted the progress and prospects of the Kazakh-Indonesian partnership, as well as the modern development of Kazakhstan within the framework of the tasks set by President K.K. Tokayev in his September State-of-the-Nation Address “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Key Tasks and Their Solutions through Digital Transformation.” In this regard, the Ambassador stressed the significant potential and new directions for expanding cooperation between Astana and Jakarta in areas of mutual interest. Special focus was made on the proposal by the Head of our State to transition to a unicameral Parliament of Kazakhstan through a nationwide discussion and a national referendum on this crucial issue in 2027.

During the event, the second edition of “Book of Words” by Abai Kunanbaiuly, translated into Indonesian language, was presented as part of the celebration of the 180th Anniversary of the birth of great Kazakh poet and enlightener. The diplomat expressed confidence that Abai's deep philosophy, reflected in this book, will allow Indonesian partners to better understand the soul and mentality of the Kazakh people, strengthen cultural and human ties between the peoples of two friendly countries.

Indonesian parliamentarians also had the pleasant opportunity to try national Kazakh cuisine and watch video clips about the rich tourism potential of Kazakhstan.
