Kazakhstan to Acquire eVTOL Electric Aircraft for Launch of Air Taxi Service in Alatau

The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, U.S. company Joby Aero, Inc., Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd., and entrepreneur Vyacheslav Kim have signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for the purchase of eVTOL electric aircraft valued at approximately USD 300 million to establish an air taxi system in the new city of Alatau.

These innovative electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft will form the foundation of Kazakhstan’s first Urban Air Mobility project. Plans include the creation of a testing platform for certification and demonstration flights, as well as the integration of air taxis into the transportation networks of Alatau and Almaty.

The purchase of eVTOL aircraft will be an important stage in the development of smart cities and the adoption of advanced technologies. This initiative will contribute to the growth of Alatau as a unique city built on technologies of the future»,- said Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Vyacheslav Kim is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaspi.kz and an investor in the “City of Alatau” project.
Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd. is the operator and integrator of advanced air mobility technologies in Kazakhstan.
