The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC Kazakhtelecom, and Perplexity AI, Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide citizens of Kazakhstan one year of free access to Perplexity Pro.

The agreement opens up new opportunities for millions of citizens, students, and professionals across Kazakhstan, enabling them to use cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools for learning, research, and professional development.

In addition, the memorandum provides for joint initiatives to support research and development (R&D) on the Alem.AI platform, as well as the development of data centers in Kazakhstan. 

«This agreement will allow millions of Kazakh citizens to access powerful AI technologies that were previously available only to a limited number of users. We are creating a digital ecosystem where knowledge, innovation, and technology become accessible to every citizen», – said Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.

Notably, Astana IT University is the initiator and coordinator of this agreement.

The agreement with Perplexity AI reflects Astana IT University’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and integrating advanced artificial intelligence technologies into education and research. Partnership with one of the world’s most innovative companies will enable the university to incorporate generative AI tools into the learning process, advance research initiatives in machine learning, and strengthen international academic connections. For students and faculty, this marks a step toward developing new digital competencies and engaging in the global AI ecosystem.

The signing of the memorandum marks another important step for Kazakhstan toward building a Smart Nation, where artificial intelligence drives progress in education, science, and human potential.
