Kazakhs in Belgium: New Initiatives and Strengthening Ties with the Homeland

Brussels, November 13, 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium hosted a meeting between Ambassador of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko and representatives of the Kazakh diaspora living in various regions of Belgium and Luxembourg.
Active members of the Kazakh diaspora, entrepreneurs, specialists from international organizations, and cultural figures took part in the meeting. The discussion focused on supporting compatriots, preserving the Kazakh language and traditions, and expanding cooperation between the Embassy and the Kazakh community.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of involving the diaspora in cultural and social life, noting that Kazakh citizens living abroad are a key link in strengthening mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Europe. He also provided information on the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, including in the context of the 10th anniversary of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
During the meeting, participants proposed establishing a cultural center at the Embassy that could serve as a venue for Kazakh language courses as well as creative and educational activities. The idea of creating an association of Kazakh citizens in Belgium was also discussed, with the aim of coordinating joint projects and strengthening cooperation among compatriots.
The meeting concluded with musical performances of works by Kazakh composers, presented by members of the diaspora, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere and evoked a sense of cultural heritage.
The participants emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous dialogue with the Embassy and expressed their readiness to work together on initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and its compatriots abroad.
