Kazakhstan and Japan Strengthen Inter-Parliamentary Dialogue and Strategic Partnership

Tokyo, November 17, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazkahstan in Japan Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev held talks with Masakazu Sekiguchi, President of the House of Councilors of the National Diet of Japan, during which the parties discussed prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The Kazakh diplomat outlined in detail Kazakhstan’s key initiatives aimed at advancing the “expanded strategic partnership” between Kazakhstan and Japan, and briefed his counterpart on President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s political system in line with the principle: “A Strong President – An Influential Parliament – An Accountable Government.”
In turn, Masakazu Sekiguchi highly commended Kazakhstan’s active role on the international stage. He emphasized the significance of the parliamentary friendship leagues of Japan with Kazakhstan and Central Asia in fostering a trust-based dialogue between the legislative bodies of both countries. The Japanese leader also underscored the importance of expanding Kazakh–Japanese cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize reciprocal visits by parliamentary delegations in 2026.
