Tokyo, 18 November 2025 – The Kazakh Film Days, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Japan and «Kazakhfilm» National Film Studio named after Shaken Aimanov, opened in Tokyo.

The screening of Kazakh films about the history of the Great Steppe, the cultural heritage of nomadic civilisation and national traditions is aimed at strengthening cultural dialogue between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Japan.

On the first day of the festival, audiences were shown the historical epic «The Kazakh Khanate: The Diamond Sword», which depicts the story of Kazakh statehood in the 15th century.

At the event's opening ceremony, Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Japan, stated that by introducing Kazakh cinema to Japanese society, we are not only opening up Kazakhstan's artistic world, but also conveying cultural values that strengthen mutual understanding.

The Japanese audience will also be treated to films that represent national history and musical traditions, such as A. Sataev's historical film Dawn of the Great Steppe and A. Sakhaman's biographical drama about the iconic musical group Dos-Mukasan.

The event became part of Kazakhstan's cultural diplomacy aimed at promoting national culture and introducing audiences to examples of contemporary Kazakh cinema.
