Kazakhstan Reaffirms Its Strong Partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Commitment to Advancing International Humanitarian Law
19.11.2025 15:30:29 104Geneva, November 17, 2025 – The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva H.E. Erzhan Kazykhan held a meeting with Ms. Mirjana Spolyarich-Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
During the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening long-standing cooperation between Kazakhstan and the ICRC across global, regional, and national platforms. Particular attention was devoted to advancing the Global Initiative to Strengthen Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law (IHL), which was jointly launched by the ICRC and six partner countries: Kazakhstan, France, China, Brazil, South Africa, and Jordan. To date, the initiative has been supported by 95 States, demonstrating broad international endorsement and recognition of its relevance.
Ms. Spolyarich-Egger noted that Kazakhstan’s active and constructive participation in promoting the Initiative reflects the country’s firm adherence to humanitarian principles and its ongoing commitment to strengthening international norms and multilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Kazykhan reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to working closely with the ICRC and to further contributing to global efforts aimed at ensuring full respect for international humanitarian law, protecting victims of armed conflict, and reinforcing collective ethical and legal responsibilities.
