Kazakhstan and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Strengthen Cooperation

Geneva, November 18, 2025 Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Erzhan Kazykhan held a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mr. Volker Türk.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kazykhan reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s strong support for the mandate and activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). He highlighted the essential role of the High Commissioner in promoting and protecting human rights worldwide, including ensuring the protection and safety of civilians in armed conflict.

Mr. Volker Türk expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s constructive engagement with UN human rights mechanisms and emphasized that cooperation with international organizations strengthens global human rights institutions, reinforces adherence to universal norms, and promotes effective multilateral dialogue.

Kazakhstan reiterated its readiness to deepen cooperation with the OHCHR at the global, regional, and national levels with the aim of further advancing international human rights standards, supporting professional capacity-building, and contributing to the protection of fundamental freedoms.
