A large-scale Saturday rally was organized in the Karatau district of Shymkent on October 16, 2025, as part of the republican environmental campaign “Clean Kazakhstan”. The event was actively attended by specialists from the district akimat and public utilities, local residents, youth organizations, schoolchildren and students. The main goal of the campaign was to raise environmental culture, keep the city clean, protect the natural environment in public places, and increase environmental responsibility among residents.

During the event, cleaning work was carried out in the territory of the Shym Saya gorge. Special equipment and workers were mobilized on a large scale for these works. In particular, 12 units of equipment and a team of 40 people were involved. First, they mowed dry grass, cleaned the roadside, pedestrian paths and public places from garbage. In addition, garbage was collected near bushes and trees in the gorge, and the surrounding natural landscape was restored.

In organizing the cleaning work, the district akimat developed a specially targeted plan. According to the plan, first of all, dangerous and garbage-laden areas were identified. Each group was given its own route and provided with technical equipment and collection tools. Local residents and volunteers were explained the correct sorting of garbage, the procedure for separate collection of plastic bags, plastic and paper waste. The peculiarity of this event is that, in addition to environmental cleanliness, it is also aimed at instilling a culture of environmental protection in residents.

Residents of the district also actively participated in the cleaning event. They contributed their share and set an example in protecting the nature of their native region.
