On October 16, 2025, a sanitation cleanup was conducted on Kalmyrzayev Street in Shymkent's Yenbekshinsky District as part of the national environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan" and "Clean Yard" week. The event was organized by the Yenbekshinsky District Akim's Office with the support of the Yenbekshinsky Municipal Utility Enterprise and Inteko Group LLP, as well as with the active participation of district residents. The goal of the cleanup was to improve the district's environmental conditions, encourage residents to maintain cleanliness in their yards, streets, and public spaces, and foster environmental awareness and responsibility for the environment.
The cleanup day, part of "Clean Yard" week, covered a significant portion of Kalmyrzayev Street. More than 60 people participated in the event, including representatives of the district administration, utility service employees, active residents, volunteers, and employees of Inteko Group LLC. All participants worked in teams, receiving appropriate instructions and assigned tasks.
The main tasks included sanitary cleaning of the area, washing and clearing garbage disposal areas, mowing grass, pruning trees, cleaning streets, sidewalks, and playgrounds, as well as washing bus stops. The work was carried out using specialized equipment and machinery, including waste container washers and street cleaners, which significantly increased the efficiency of the work and ensured high-quality results.
An important aspect of the cleanup day was adherence to safety regulations. Participants received instructions on the safe use of tools and equipment, working on streets with traffic, and the proper sorting and disposal of collected waste. This ensured the work was carried out safely and in an organized manner, and all participants were able to complete their assigned tasks productively.
Particular attention was paid to engaging residents in the environmental cleanup process. Each participant understood that maintaining cleanliness is a personal responsibility that directly impacts the comfort and aesthetic appeal of the neighborhood. Through their actions, the participants set an example for other residents, demonstrating the importance of maintaining cleanliness and order in their own yards and on the neighborhood streets.
The sanitary cleanup included a range of measures to maintain cleanliness and order. Specifically, waste collection areas were cleaned, where collected waste was sorted and prepared for further processing. Street cleaning was ensured by thorough sweeping, sidewalk washing, removal of trash and dry leaves, and landscaping maintenance. Tree pruning and shrub maintenance created a neater and more aesthetically pleasing appearance on the streets and contributed to improved environmental conditions.
A significant outcome of "Clean Yard" week was the increased environmental awareness among young people and children. Schoolchildren and students participated in neighborhood cleanups, helped sort waste, maintain green spaces, and tidy up playgrounds. Participation in such events fosters the habit of caring for cleanliness and respecting nature and the environment from an early age.
The event also included educational and awareness-raising elements. Information boards were placed throughout the cleanup area, explaining proper waste sorting, recycling, preserving green spaces, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness. Quizzes, environmental games, and competitions were held for children and young people, aimed at reinforcing their knowledge of environmental stewardship.
The cleanup demonstrated that the joint efforts of the administration, municipal services, and residents can significantly improve the urban environment. This collaborative effort strengthened a sense of community responsibility, brought residents together, increased their involvement in maintaining cleanliness and order, and contributed to the creation of a comfortable and safe urban environment.
Upon completion of the cleanup, the district administration thanked all participants for their efforts and contributions to the improvement of the area. Special thanks were extended to the volunteers, schools, and organizations that made significant contributions to the cleanup. The results of the work were documented, and an action plan for future events was prepared.
The Clean Kazakhstan program and Clean Yard week are aimed not only at waste collection and landscaping, but also at fostering environmental awareness among the population, fostering a sense of responsibility for the environment, raising sanitary standards, and engaging residents in regular environmental activities.
The cleanup day on Kalmyrzayev Street served as an example of how the active participation of residents, the administration, and public organizations helps improve the environment and create a comfortable living environment. It demonstrated that clean and tidy streets are the result of the joint efforts of all residents, and that caring for nature and cleanliness begins with each person.
Regular events like these foster the habit of maintaining cleanliness, preserving green spaces and natural resources, passing this example on to future generations, and instilling a sense of collective responsibility. The "Clean Kazakhstan" program and "Clean Yard" week are becoming more than just one-time events; they are an important part of fostering environmental awareness among the population, a culture of cleanliness, and concern for the future.
Thus, the sanitary cleanup campaign during "Clean Yard" week demonstrated that the joint efforts of residents, volunteers, and the administration create a cleaner, more well-maintained, and safer urban environment. The campaign became a shining example of how community activism improves neighborhood conditions, fosters environmental awareness, strengthens a sense of responsibility, and helps residents develop habits of cleanliness and orderliness.
"Clean Yard" Week demonstrated that a clean city and a comfortable, well-maintained environment are only possible with the combined efforts of all residents. Keeping streets and courtyards clean demonstrates concern for one's city, respect for nature, and respect for future generations. This campaign became an example of unity, responsibility, and care for the environment.
