In order to ensure environmental safety and improve the quality of life of the population, systematic work is being carried out in Shymkent to modernize water bodies and hydraulic facilities. In accordance with the direct instructions of the city akim, work on strengthening the embankment and dam along the Badam River has been continuing intensively since November 1, 2025. This initiative is a very important project in preventing natural disasters and ensuring infrastructure safety.

The Badam River is an important part of the water resources of the city of Shymkent. It crosses several residential areas and directly affects the livelihoods of the population and the ecosystem. In recent years, the risk of flooding has increased due to increased precipitation, climate change, and natural erosion of riverbeds. Therefore, engineering reinforcement of the riverbank is the need of the hour.

These works are being carried out by Hydrolife 2050 Limited Liability Company. The company's specialists are carrying out tasks such as strengthening the river dam, concreting the embankment, securing the soil, and expanding the water channel in the Badam-2 settlement.

Modern special equipment has been deployed at the work site. In particular:

• crawler excavators

• wheeled excavators

• soil compactors

• forklift trucks

• heavy trucks

• abrasive equipment

• tractors

A total of 16 special equipment units are working non-stop every day. This is an important factor for the timely completion of the project.

The project has now entered its second phase . In this phase:

The slope of the riverbank is planned
The reinforcement frame is being prepared.
Concrete is being poured into the construction area.
Additional retaining blocks will be installed to strengthen the shoreline.
Water channels to dangerous areas are being repaired

All work is carried out in accordance with the approved technical design documentation and in compliance with construction safety requirements. The quality of the materials used is under constant control. At each stage, engineers and representatives of technical supervision conduct inspections.

Although water is a source of life, its uncontrolled power can be dangerous. Taking this into account, the city administration is paying special attention to making the Badam River area safe. Thanks to the implementation of this project:
