On November 6, 2025, the acting akim of Abay district, Zhandos Sadyrkhanov, visited the North-West microdistrict in the district and held a meeting with local residents in an area where rainwater often accumulates along Naizaly Street. This meeting is part of a regular working trip organized to ensure the safety of residents and resolve infrastructure issues.
In recent years, this area has been experiencing frequent flooding during rainfall, causing concern among residents. Especially during heavy rains, there have been cases where the water level has risen sharply and reached the courtyards of private homes. The need to urgently take appropriate measures to prevent such a threat is being emphasized.
During the meeting, residents openly expressed their suggestions. They spoke about the blockage of the rainwater drainage system in some areas, the malfunctioning of culverts, and the weakness of the dam. The main issue raised by residents was the need to strengthen the dangerous areas where rainwater flows back and accumulates on the streets and in the courtyards of houses.
Zh. Sadyrkhanov listened carefully to the residents and noted that all the issues raised were taken into account. According to him, a special engineering study was conducted on the areas where water accumulates due to heavy rains. According to the results, work is planned to strengthen the dam, expand the drainage system, and regulate the direction of water flow in the area.
He said in his speech:
– “The safety of the population is our main task. Every issue raised by residents will not go unnoticed. The modernization of water supply systems in this area and the strengthening of the dam will be completed before the upcoming rainy season ,” he said clearly.
Special instructions have been given to the relevant municipal institutions. The contracting organizations will mobilize equipment and in the near future begin work on strengthening the dam and deepening the water channels. During the implementation of these works, the natural relief features will be taken into account and the water catchment areas will be recalculated.
It is also planned to organize a 24-hour duty to respond promptly during rainfall. It was noted that prevention of emergencies is important to avoid subsequent consequences.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the akimat and expressed hope for the timely and high-quality implementation of the work. The most important thing for them is the safety of their homes and children. Therefore, the meeting also discussed the difficulties that children encounter on their way to school. It was noted that sometimes after rain, the streets are flooded, making it difficult for children to walk. It was explained that the responsible specialists were given instructions on this issue and that measures would be taken to ensure safe movement.
During the meeting, information and explanatory work was also carried out. It was noted that it is important to maintain sanitary conditions with local residents, not to clog drains with household waste, and to establish cooperation with utilities. It was noted that each citizen's responsible attitude to the environment will significantly contribute to flood prevention.
The district administration reported that the deadlines for resolving these issues have been clearly set. It was also emphasized that all work will be under constant control of the Abay district akim's office. During the implementation of the planned measures, feedback from residents will be provided at each stage, and information will be provided.
Zh. Sadyrkhanov:
– “We work together with the people. The proposals of the population are the main direction of our work. The issues raised today will find concrete solutions. If any difficulties arise, we will overcome them together ,” he concluded.
Such meetings help strengthen ties between the authorities and the people, identify urgent issues in a timely manner, and make effective decisions. Residents of the North-West microdistrict are confident that as a result of this visit, the situation in dangerous areas will soon improve.
In conclusion, this meeting, which took place on November 6, is an example of a constructive dialogue between the district administration and residents. In the future, work will continue in stages to increase infrastructure safety and improve stormwater prevention systems. The main goal is to create the necessary conditions for residents to live comfortably and ensure that everyone has a carefree life.
