On November 6, 2025, Acting Akim of the Abay District, Zhandos Sadyrkhanov, conducted a working visit to the Severo-Zapadny Microdistrict, located in the district. During the visit, he met with residents along Naizaly Street, a stretch of road where large amounts of water regularly accumulate during heavy rains, posing a risk of flooding. The purpose of this visit was to promptly address issues critical to the safety and well-being of the residents.

Local residents have repeatedly complained that during heavy rainfall, rainwater is unable to drain through irrigation ditches and wells, resulting in accumulation on roadways and in the yards of private homes. In some cases, water has reached right up to building foundations, causing anxiety and threatening damage to personal property.

At the meeting, residents actively raised concerns: inoperative or inadequate drainage channels, the need to strengthen the existing dam, and expand the drainage system to prevent backflow. They particularly emphasized that with the onset of winter and spring, precipitation in the region increases significantly, making prompt and systematic action crucial.

Zhandos Sadyrkhanov noted that public safety is the local authorities' top priority. He emphasized that the public's complaints have already been reviewed, and utility service specialists have analyzed the site's condition. A list of engineering solutions has now been identified that will improve the irrigation canal's capacity and strengthen the protective structure.

The acting akim announced that work will be carried out in this area using specialized equipment before the start of the next heavy rainfall season:
• strengthening the dam to prevent its erosion;
• cleaning and deepening channels for free drainage of water;
• restoration and expansion of drainage wells where necessary;
• regulation of the direction of rainwater flow to eliminate stagnant zones.

According to him, the district administration is closely monitoring the implementation of all planned measures. The work will be completed as quickly as possible to prevent a recurrence of problems during the upcoming rainy season. He also added that the relevant services have been instructed to maintain constant contact with residents and respond immediately to requests should the situation worsen.

Child safety was also a key topic of discussion. Parents reported that after rain, schoolchildren have difficulty walking on the street due to deep puddles. Sadyrkhanov therefore instructed that additional measures be considered to ensure a convenient and safe route for schoolchildren, including localized soil fill and temporary solutions until the main work is completed.

During the meeting, district administration representatives held an explanatory talk regarding the need to maintain sanitary regulations. It was noted that some blockages are caused by household waste that some residents dispose of in irrigation ditches. The diligent work of public utilities will not yield long-term results without the participation and responsibility of local residents. Therefore, everyone must follow the rules and prevent clogging of drainage systems.

Residents expressed gratitude for having their concerns heard. They noted the importance of such communication, as direct dialogue with district leadership helps them receive answers to pressing questions and see tangible steps taken to improve infrastructure. Many hope that the planned measures will completely eliminate the risk of flooding, making the area more comfortable and safe to live in.

In his closing remarks, Sadyrkhanov noted:
"We work with the public and for the public. Every issue must be resolved promptly and efficiently. Today, we heard your proposals and see viable solutions. All planned activities will be implemented with the interests of residents in mind. If additional challenges arise, we will work together to find a way to overcome them."

Such meetings help build trust between the public and government authorities, promptly identify existing infrastructure shortcomings, and improve the effectiveness of decision-making. Work in this area will continue, and the district administration intends to consistently address all outstanding issues.

In conclusion, the field visit and meeting with residents of the North-West microdistrict is an important step toward ensuring comfortable and safe living conditions. Teamwork, combining the efforts of local authorities and residents, is key to the successful development of the district. All current and planned activities continue to be under the constant supervision of the Abay District Akim's Office, and their results will be communicated to the public in due course.
