Kazakhstan Representative Participates in the Plenary Sessions of the European Steering Committee for Youth of the Council of Europe

Strasbourg, 17-19 November 2025 – The Council of Europe headquarters hosted 76th meeting of the European Steering Committee for Youth and the 53rd meeting of the Joint Council on Youth, organized by the Council of Europe’s Youth Department. Kazakhstan was represented by Mr. Valikhan Bakhretdinov, President of the Public association “Kazakhstan-EU Gateway”.

During the meetings the key reforms in national youth policy, including recent amendments to the Law on Youth Policy and the implementation of the National Youth Policy Development Concept were presented.

Officials of the Council of Europe highly valued Kazakhstan’s active engagement and expressed readiness to further enhance cooperation, including strengthening ties with youth resource centres. The discussions also focused on the involvement of young people in climate action, the development of joint initiatives between Europe and Central Asia, and efforts to improve political literacy among young people in Kazakhstan.

The sides explored opportunities for new joint projects in the field of youth policy.

During the plenary session, Mr. Bakhretdinov was re-elected for a new two-year term as a member of the Bureau of the European Steering Committee for Youth, reflecting the recognition of Kazakhstan’s growing international profile and its constructive contribution to youth cooperation.

Participants reaffirmed their appreciation for the current level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe and expressed their readiness to further strengthen collaboration to promote democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law.
