Eight medals were won by Karaganda athletes at the Islamic Games

The sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, held under the slogan "One nation - birt", have ended in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Athletes from 57 countries took part in the competition. The national team of Kazakhstan was represented in 16 sports and won a total of 56 medals: 15 gold, 20 silver and 21 bronze. Eight of these awards are on the account of Karaganda athletes.

The first places at the Islamic Games were taken by Almatai Ziger in jiu-jitsu, Nikita Tarnakin in karate and Alan Kurmangaliev in team table tennis. Lyubov Kovalchuk (weightlifting) took the silver medal. Bronze medals were won by Artem Antropov (weightlifting), Elmira Syzdykov (women's wrestling), Azhar Salykova (jiu-jitsu) and Kira Nemtyreva as part of the handball team. Congratulations to the athletes and their coaches!
