A convicted fraudster is serving his sentence in a medium security facility. Upon arriving at the colony, he told the staff that he had been a professional football player before his imprisonment.
— I started playing football when I was seven years old. Over the years, he played as a defender and midfielder for football clubs in Semey, Pavlodar, Astana, Uralsk, Kokshetau and other cities of Kazakhstan. Now I want to share my skills with other convicts. There are many young men among them who still have everything ahead of them, and fathers who, after being released, will be able to teach football to their children. Someone may find their hobby, and someone else will find a path to professional sports," the convict said.
He recruited a group of twenty convicts, whom he teaches the basics of football. Classes are held in their free time from work and mandatory activities, without interfering with the daily routine. The training participants are happy to have the opportunity to learn new skills that may be useful to them after their release.
— I used to make good money playing football. Then he started betting and retired from the sport. I didn't have enough money for gambling, so I started borrowing from friends and relatives. When the necessary amounts were not available, he convinced them to apply for loans, promising to return the money quickly. But I couldn't get it back. As a result, I deceived 32 residents of Semey for a total amount of more than 60 million tenge. I thought I'd get it back and get it back, but it didn't happen. I am 37 years old now, and I am serving a sentence of 3 years and 6 months. I'm gradually repairing the damage. I want to give advice to young people: don't get involved in something like this — you won't be able to avoid punishment. And I want to tell people: don't trust those who can't take on a loan, which means your credit history is already ruined. And spoiling yours is not a problem for him," he shared.
According to the head of the institution, Zhenis Daurenbekov, the convict arrived two years ago and has been striving to improve since then.
— We try to provide convicts with the opportunity to find a job and gain additional skills that will be useful in freedom. This convict works in a woodcarving workshop and pays lawsuits out of his salary. He took the initiative and began to teach football to others. The institution regularly hosts sports events, especially football matches, and the administration always supports such initiatives," Zhenis Daurenbekov.
