A Roadshow Dedicated to Showcasing the Capital’s Tourism Industry Held in South Korea

The Astana Tourism Development Center (Astana Tourism) brought together leading representatives of the tourism sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea, serving as a platform for experience-sharing, tourism product presentations, and the establishment of business connections.
Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea, Nurgali Arystanov, and Deputy Head of the Department for Investment and Entrepreneurship Development of Astana, Maksat Zhanabayev, delivered welcoming remarks to the participants. They emphasized the importance of strengthening tourism ties between the two countries and highlighted the role of Kazakhstan’s capital as a promising tourist destination in Central Asia.
“I would like to express my gratitude to our Korean partners for their unwavering support and growing interest in Kazakhstan as a promising tourism destination.
This event marks an important step toward strengthening tourism cooperation between our two countries,”
noted Ambassador Nurgali Arystanov.
Chairman of the Board of the Astana Tourism Development Center, Artem Kvashuk, presented the tourism prospects of Kazakhstan’s capital. Participants were introduced to Astana’s key tourism products, the city’s infrastructure, and future development opportunities.
“In 2024, the number of South Korean tourists visiting Kazakhstan exceeded 40,000 — a 12% increase compared to the previous year.
At the same time, the number of Kazakh citizens traveling to South Korea increased by 8%, reaching around 53,000 people.
From January to July 2025, 38,000 Kazakh citizens visited Korea, while Kazakhstan welcomed over 17,000 Korean nationals.
We offer a wide range of destinations tailored to various categories of tourists — from cultural and event tourism to business travel and active leisure,” he noted.
The roadshow program featured B2B meetings with representatives of the South Korean tourism community. More than 70 industry professionals participated, including leading tour operators and travel agencies.
Kazakhstan was represented by Air Astana, the Astana Opera theatre, and tour operators such as SkyWay, Shef Tour, Kompas, Tyран Азия, and TOP Line.
In 2024, direct investments from Korea into Kazakhstan amounted to USD 1.2 billion. Currently, 894 joint enterprises with Korean capital are operating in the country.
“I am confident that such roadshows help improve the investment climate and attract Korean investments into Astana’s economy,”
stated Sabіt Mukhamedzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Astana Invest Urban Investment Development Center.
During the event, several memorandums and agreements were signed between the tourism communities of the two countries, including cooperation memorandums between Astana Tourism and the Tourism Promotion Organization, as well as the Secretariat of the Central Asia – Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.
Participants highlighted the high effectiveness of the roadshow as a platform for strengthening business relations, expanding partnership opportunities, and promoting Astana as an attractive destination for travel and business tourism.
