Kazakhstan Highlights Key Migration Policy Priorities at the 116th Session of the International Organization for Migration Council in Geneva

December 8-12, 2025 A Kazakhstani delegation led by First Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Yertaev is participating in the 116th session of the Council of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva.

Speaking during the ministerial segment, A.Yertayev outlined the key directions of Kazakhstan’s migration policy, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the principles of safe, orderly and regular migration, and highlighted the strong momentum in Kazakhstan’s cooperation with IOM and its Member States.

He also informed participants about Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of the Almaty Process, an initiative aimed at strengthening regional mechanisms for managing migration flows in Central Asia.

One of the event’s notable developments was the appointment of renowned Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen as an IOM Global Goodwill Ambassador. This appointment underscores the growing international recognition of Kazakhstan’s contribution to the humanitarian agenda and will help draw greater global attention to the protection of migrants’ rights and support for IOM initiatives.

On the sidelines of the session, A. Yertayev held a bilateral meeting with IOM Deputy Director General Ugochi Daniels. The Kazakh side presented the Unified Migration Portal Migration.enbek.kz, highlighted its key digital services, and outlined its role in advancing the modernization of migration management.

The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the areas of migration process digitalization and the protection of migrants’ rights.
