HEAD OF STATE KASYM-ZHOMART TOKAYEV PAID AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO JAPAN

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Tokyo as part of his official visit to Japan. The Head of State got acquainted with this complex, which is considered one of the imperial shrines of Japan.
Built in 1920, Meiji Jingu Shrine is dedicated to Emperor Meiji, who, through radical political and socio-economic reforms, transformed Japan into a developed country. The complex is surrounded by a vast park with about 120,000 trees.
After visiting the temple, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev left a note in the Book of Honored Guests.
"Meiji Jingu is a symbol of blessed unity and national consciousness. This sacred temple has a special historical significance for the Japanese people. May the Land of the Rising Sun continue to grow and prosper!" the Head of State wrote.
As part of his first official visit to Japan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also met with Emperor Naruhito of Japan. The Head of State expressed his gratitude to the Emperor for the warm welcome and hospitality shown.
During the meeting, the President noted that the people of Kazakhstan have always admired the discipline and determination of Japan. He also noted that the two countries are united by ancient friendly relations based on mutual respect and successful cooperation in various fields.
In turn, Emperor Naruhito noted that Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit will remain a significant event in the history of relations between Japan and Kazakhstan and will give impetus to raising bilateral cooperation to a new level. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of mutual cooperation and the international agenda.
