With the arrival of autumn and the start of subzero temperatures, you need to light the stove to warm your home or apartment, but don't forget the most important thing!
Remember, a stove is not only a source of warmth and comfort, but also a source of fire, so everyone who uses a stove should follow the most basic fire safety rules.
- It is extremely dangerous to leave a burning stove unattended or in the care of young children.
- Do not use flammable or combustible liquids to light a stove.
- A metal sheet (firebox guard) measuring at least 50 x 70 cm must be nailed to the wooden floor in front of the firebox.
- Do not allow the stove to overheat! To avoid overheating, it is recommended to light the stove two or three times a day for no more than an hour and a half. Turn off the stove three hours before bedtime.
- To prevent cracks in the masonry, clean the chimney periodically to remove accumulated soot.
- Do not dry items or wet firewood on the stove. Ensure that furniture, curtains, and other fire-hazardous items are at least half a meter away from the stove.
- Never light the stove with logs longer than the firebox. The logs can cause the fire to escape and spread to nearby objects, the floor, and walls.
In case of fire, call 101 or 112.
