The Center for Forecasting Criminal Threats and Public Security Risks of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts of the Prosecutor General's Office warns of a new scheme of online fraud.
According to foreign sources (https://vz.ru/news/2026/1/4/1385164.html,

telegram.html) scammers spread malicious files in Telegram under the guise of free e-books.
The deception scheme is extremely simple: You receive a Telegram message about access to a large library of books without restrictions.
After requesting the necessary publication, the bot imitates a real service, creates a brief description of the book's plot, but instead of reading or downloading
the book, it sends you a virus file disguised as a "special application".
Installing a file has critical consequences: theft of passwords and money, access to correspondence and photos, remote control
of a smartphone, and loss of personal data.
It is important to remember that installing third-party applications from unofficial sources can lead to negative consequences.
Compliance with the rules of cyber hygiene and personal vigilance remain key measures to protect against such threats.
