Expert Dialogue on Current Agenda Items of Regional Cooperation

Budapest, 5 February 2026 – At a meeting between the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary, Abzal Saparbekuly, and the Director of the Oeconomus Economic Research Foundation, Anton Bendarzsevszkiy, a thorough exchange of views was held on current issues of the international and regional agenda. The importance of expert dialogue and analytical cooperation amid ongoing global economic and political transformation was also emphasized.

Hungary’s foreign economic priorities, as well as the country’s role in regional cooperation formats, including the Visegrad Group, and the significance of coordinating the positions of the Visegrad Four countries on issues of sustainable development, economic cooperation, and regional stability was noted.

The meeting also addressed developments in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, including economic dynamics, infrastructure initiatives, and prospects for expanding interregional cooperation. Special attention was given to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route as one of the key logistics corridors contributing to the strengthening of links between Europe and Asia and enhancing the region’s transit potential.

An exchange of views took place on domestic political reforms in Kazakhstan, including the implementation of constitutional reforms aimed at modernizing the political system, strengthening democratic institutions, and expanding public participation in governance.

The role of Kazakhstan as one of the key states of Central Asia, making a significant contribution to regional stability, economic integration, and the development of the region’s transit potential, was particularly highlighted. The growing role of Central Asia and the South Caucasus in shaping new linkages between Europe and Asia was underscored as well.

Separate attention was devoted to Hungary’s role in the Organization of Turkic States, as well as its contribution to the development of dialogue between the European Union, the countries of Central Asia, and the Turkic world.
