The updated Constitution clearly states that the sole source of power is the people of Kazakhstan, and expands the opportunities for citizens to directly participate in governing the country. To this end, new institutions and mechanisms are being created to take into account the opinion of the people and strengthen public dialogue. One of them is the People's Council of Kazakhstan, which is being created as an effective dialogue platform that allows citizens to raise legislative initiatives on their behalf and aims to strengthen the relationship between society and the authorities. In addition, the role of the Kurultai institution is being defined, and the basis for the effective functioning of the unicameral Parliament consisting of 145 deputies is being laid. These changes are aimed at further strengthening democratic principles by increasing the transparency of the state administration system and increasing the participation of the people in the decision-making process.
