The staff of the penitentiary probation service in the Abai region held a preventive meeting of the convict with high school students from one of the district schools of the Kokpektinsky district.

The event was aimed at preventing offenses among young people and forming a responsible attitude towards choosing a life path.

             During the meeting, the 16-year-old convict shared his personal story.:

            — After graduating from the ninth grade, I went to college, lived in a dormitory, and made new friends there who suggested that I engage in cell phone theft. So in three months, we stole six phones totaling more than 700 thousand tenge, and spent the proceeds on personal needs. For this, by the verdict of the court, I was placed in a special boarding school with a special regime of the Department of education of the Abai region for a period of one year.

          The teenager also spoke about his current situation.:

             — I'm currently serving my sentence at a boarding school. There are about ten guys like me between the ages of 12 and 17. They are mostly teenagers who have committed crimes such as theft and robbery. Once upon a time, mothers escorted each of us to school, thinking that we would get an education and become someone they would be proud of. None of them thought that their son would ruin his life like that. When I committed the thefts, I thought I was a minor and would get nothing for it, but it turned out not to be the case. Now I don't think I can learn a profession that I like, and I want you to understand that even in adolescence, any crime necessarily affects the future, deprives opportunities and trust, and most importantly— destroys the dreams of not only the person himself, but also his loved ones.

           One of the 10th grade students noted: —                           The story was very instructive. When you hear such a story from a peer, you begin to feel differently about your actions and realize that even a small mistake can have serious consequences.

             Damir Aidarov, Head of the Kokpektinsky District Probation Service, emphasized:

             — The main purpose of such meetings is not to intimidate teenagers, but to show them the real consequences of illegal actions. We strive to convey to young people that the law and responsibility begin with the personal choice of each person.
