20 February 2026. A briefing dedicated to the upcoming republican referendum on the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Chișinău. The event was attended by representatives of the Kazakh diaspora as well as students studying at higher education institutions of Moldova.

The main objective of the meeting was to provide comprehensive and accessible information to citizens on the content of the draft Constitution and the prerequisites for its development. It was noted that the initiative to prepare the new Basic Law had been announced by the Head of State in the Address of 8 September 2025, after which a special commission was established.

It was emphasized that the key objective of the updated Constitution is to enshrine the principle that human life, rights and freedoms constitute the highest value. The Goverment must serve the citizen, the law must be equal for all, and every individual must have effective mechanisms for the protection of their rights.

Participants were also informed about the political and socio-economic reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan. An exchange of views took place during the event, and the opinions and proposals of the participants were heard.

In conclusion, the participants were encouraged to take an active part in the republican referendum to be held on 15 March of the current year.
