Kazakhstan and Ethiopia Aim to Deepen Strategic Partnership and Technological Cooperation

Addis Ababa, April 15, 2026 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the African Union, Zhalgas Adilbayev, held a meeting with the Assistant to the President of Ethiopia for International Relations, Biniyam Ephrem Betrework. During the talks, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations and outlined paths for deepening interstate cooperation.

The Kazakh diplomat provided detailed information on the results of the nationwide referendum held on March 15, 2026, and the adoption of the new Constitution, which establishes the transition to a unicameral Parliament (Kurultai) and the creation of the office of Vice President. In turn, the Ethiopian side presented an overview of the internal political situation ahead of the general elections, noting high stability and public confidence in the current course of reforms.

Within the framework of the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ethiopia, as well as the prospects for establishing joint Kazakh-Ethiopian enterprises in Ethiopia. They also emphasized the importance of organizing mutual visits for government officials and business communities to further strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

Concluding the meeting, the parties highlighted the immense potential for growth in trade turnover and reaffirmed their readiness to provide systemic support to the business circles of both countries for the implementation of mutually beneficial initiatives.
