Kazakhstan is steadily moving towards a modern and convenient customs system. Thanks to the introduction of the national information platform "Keden", customs administration is becoming faster, more transparent and more comfortable for both businesses and citizens.
Step by step, all key processes are digitized. By 2026, impressive results have already been achieved: the Keden system processes transit declarations, international mailings and passenger declarations. Integrations with government agencies have been implemented, which significantly speeds up data exchange.
The time of customs clearance has been significantly reduced. Previously, transit could take up to 30 minutes, but now the procedure takes 10 minutes. Inspection of container trains was accelerated from 3 hours to 30 minutes. These changes directly reduce logistical costs and make Kazakhstan a more attractive transit corridor.
12 customs state services, 3 types of permits and declarations for vehicles were transferred to electronic format. Convenient digital services have appeared: view price information on goods, check the customs clearance of cars by VIN-code and automatic registration of declarations. Users note the convenience — most operations can now be performed online without visiting a customs post.
The key module "Declaration of Goods" has been launched, which fully automates the basic procedures. About ten thousand users have already been registered across the country, over three thousand declarations have been tested, comments have been eliminated and suggestions from businesses have been taken into account. The State revenue authorities actively train customs representatives and declarants by conducting both online and offline seminars.
Keden is not just a new system, but a real step towards a service-based administration model. The state is moving from total control to a risk-based approach, helping bona fide participants in foreign economic activity. Transparency of procedures is increasing, and corruption risks are decreasing.
For businesses and citizens, new opportunities mean savings in time and money, and for the state, increased budget revenues with less administrative burden. Kazakhstan Customs today is a modern, technological and customer—oriented service.
