The Presidents of the Central Asian countries adopt the Declaration on cooperation in ecology and sustainable development

Within the framework of the Regional Ecological Summit 2026, held from April 22 to 24 in the city of Astana, the Heads of State of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan adopted the Declaration on regional cooperation in the field of ecology and sustainable development entitled “Ecological Solidarity of Central Asia.”
In doing so, the Heads of State reaffirmed their intention to intensify efforts to develop joint regional positions and solutions within multilateral environmental processes, including negotiations on climate, glaciers, the mountain agenda, biodiversity, the management of chemicals, waste and plastic pollution, improvement of air quality, combating land degradation and desertification, as well as to promote a consolidated position of Central Asian countries on key international platforms.
This Declaration makes a significant contribution to strengthening partnership and mutual support among the Central Asian states, with the aim of ensuring environmental sustainability, inclusive economic growth, and a sustainable future for present and future generations.
