Rules for conducting customs inspections

Customs inspection is a form of customs control consisting in conducting an inspection and performing other actions with respect to goods, including vehicles and individuals’ baggage, with opening the packaging of goods, cargo spaces (compartments) of vehicles, tanks, containers or other places where goods are or may be found.

The customs authority shall notify the declarant or another person having powers with regard to the goods, of the place and time of the customs inspection if these persons are identified, in any way that allows confirming the notification receipt. The reasonable time of arrival of such persons is taken into account when setting the time for customs inspection. At the same time, the time limits for the arrival of the declarant and other persons having powers with regard to the goods should take into account the time limits for customs control in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 193 of the Code "on Customs Regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The results of the customs inspection are formalized by drawing up a customs inspection report, which form is determined by the Commission, except for the case provided for in paragraph 3 of Article 401 of the Code "on Customs Regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

In 2026, 47 customs inspections were conducted, and as a result 22 violations of customs legislation were detected, and administrative fines in the amount of 2,170.0 thousand tenge were imposed, additional customs payments and taxes in the amount of 378.5 thousand tenge were collected.
