Nauryz Celebration Held at the Vienna Philharmonic

Vienna, April 24, 2026 – A gala concert dedicated to Nauryz Meyrami, the principal spring holiday, took place in the Brahms Hall of the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic. Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Akimat of Almaty, the celebration brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, media, Austrian business and cultural circles, as well as members of the Kazakh diaspora and students residing in Vienna.
The festive evening was enriched by performances from the “Sazgen Sazy” Folklore and Ethnographic Ensemble and opera singers Nurzhamal Usenbayeva and Aigul Shamshidenova. They presented the audience with a vibrant and colorful program filled with folk music and traditional songs.
The talented performers showcased both traditional and contemporary Kazakh songs and kyuis. The audience was particularly captivated by the renowned compositions “Ata Tolgauy” by Nurgisa Tlendiyev, “Karazhorga,” “Almatym Zhuregimde,” as well as a medley of Austrian, French, German, and Hungarian folk songs. The musicians performed these works on traditional national instruments such as the dombra, zhetygen, and kobyz, while also delighting guests with interpretations of well-known Austrian musical compositions.
Nauryz Meyrami, symbolizing the awakening of spring and harmony, became a vivid example of cultural dialogue between Kazakhstan and Austria, contributing to the strengthening of friendly ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries.
