Central Asian Countries and the Gulf States Are Interested in Developing a Strategic Dialogue

Riyadh, May 4, 2026 – Organized with the support of the Saudi research center “Gulf Research Center,” a roundtable discussion was held on the topic “Analysis of Relations between Central Asian Countries and Arab States of the Gulf in the Context of Regional Developments.”
The event was attended by representatives of the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as ambassadors of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan to the Kingdom.
In his opening remarks, the founder and president of the research center, Abdulaziz bin Sager, highlighted the historical ties between the Arab states of the Gulf and Central Asian countries, as well as their current state.
During the event, participants discussed the interconnections between the Central Asian and Gulf regions, as well as the impact of crises in the Middle East and their potential consequences. They noted that conflicts in the region have a negative impact on global economic stability and emphasized the importance of intensifying negotiations and diplomatic mechanisms to ease tensions.
In his address, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia, Madiyar Menilbekov, highlighted the importance of strategic dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Central Asian countries, and emphasized the need to expand interregional trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian ties.
At the conclusion of the event, participants stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation between Central Asian countries and the GCC states and agreed to continue holding such meetings on a regular basis in order to develop joint proposals for expanding cooperation.
