Ambassador of Kazakhstan Delivered a Lecture at Bahria University

Islamabad, April 30, 2026 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, visited one of the leading universities in the capital, Bahria University, where he held a meeting with the Rector, Abid Hameed, and delivered a lecture for students and faculty members.

During the meeting with the university’s leadership, the parties discussed issues related to cooperation in the field of education and the establishment of direct contacts with universities of Kazakhstan. Abid Hameed expressed strong interest and confirmed his intention to send a delegation to Kazakhstan to further develop academic ties.

The lecture focused on current issues in the development of Kazakhstan-Pakistan relations, the outcomes of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Pakistan on February 3-4 this year, as well as key aspects of the ongoing political reforms in Kazakhstan.

In his remarks, the Ambassador provided a detailed overview of the current state and future prospects of Kazakhstan-Pakistan cooperation, highlighting the dynamic development of political dialogue, the expansion of trade and economic ties, and the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian contacts both bilaterally and within regional frameworks.

Special attention was given to the first visit of the Head of State to Pakistan since 2003, which resulted in the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership, as well as more than 70 bilateral agreements and memoranda.

A separate part of the lecture addressed the implementation of political reforms in Kazakhstan, including the adoption of a new version of the Constitution following the nationwide referendum held on March 15 this year. The Ambassador elaborated on the modernization of the country’s political system, the strengthening of the role of Parliament, the development of human rights protection mechanisms, and the formation of a more open and accountable model of public governance.

The Ambassador also emphasized the growing importance of regional cooperation, underlining the need for joint efforts in ensuring security, sustainable development, transport connectivity, and the implementation of new economic initiatives.

The Ambassador also gave an interview to the university television channel BUTV, where he further outlined the priorities of bilateral cooperation, with particular focus on the cultural and humanitarian dimension.
