Kazakhstan presented the outcomes of the Regional Ecological Summit at the OSCE

Vienna, April 30, 2026. At the Permanent Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) the delegation of Kazakhstan informed the OSCE participating States of the outcomes of the Regional Ecological Summit (RES), held in Astana from April 22 to 24, 2026.
The representative of Kazakhstan in his statement pointed out that the Summit, initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in partnership with the United Nations, has become the largest regional platform for environmental and climate action.
The central political outcome of the Summit was the adoption of the “Astana Declaration on Environmental Solidarity in Central Asia” which enshrines the commitment of the States of the region to joint action in response to transboundary environmental challenges. OSCE participating States were informed about the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the UN aimed at strengthening global water resources management. Consultations on this initiative were successfully launched during the Summit.
The Kazakh delegation expressed gratitude to the OSCE leadership and structures, including Secretary General Mr.Feridun Sinirlioğlu and President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr.Pere Pons, for their active participation in the Summit and contribution to the development of regional environmental cooperation.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that the agreements reached at the Summit are of significant importance for the OSCE agenda in the economic and environmental dimension. Kazakhstan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting environmental solidarity and the practical implementation of joint initiatives for a sustainable future for the region.
