Athens, May 1, 2026 – A scientific and practical conference entitled “Kazakhstan and Greece: Historical Retrospective and Vectors of Contemporary Cooperation” was held in the capital of Greece, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Hellenic Republic on the occasion of the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.

The event was dedicated to issues related to strengthening Kazakh-Greek cooperation, the ongoing reforms in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the importance of interethnic harmony as one of the key foundations for the country’s sustainable development. Particular attention during the conference was paid to the role of Pontic Greeks as an important humanitarian bridge between Kazakhstan and Greece.

The conference brought together representatives of the Greek public, associations of the Greek diaspora, Kazakh compatriots residing in Greece, as well as representatives of local self-government bodies.

Participants were presented with a video dedicated to the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan, reflecting the cultural diversity and traditions that form the unity of the nation. A separate part of the program was devoted to an overview of the key reforms being implemented in the Republic of Kazakhstan and their significance for the country’s further development. The conference concluded with an open discussion, during which participants exchanged views on further expanding humanitarian and public ties between Kazakhstan and Greece.

Within the framework of the event, letters of appreciation were presented to Maria Feodoridi-Kanakidi, representative of the “Argo” Society, Christos Sofianidis, Vasilios Chenkelidis, advisor to the Municipality of Kallithea, as well as Georgios Houtidis, representative of the senior generation of the Greek community, in recognition of their contribution to the development of Kazakh-Greek cooperation and the strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.

The event concluded with a festive reception, providing participants with an opportunity to continue communication in an informal atmosphere.
