During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of the meeting for further strengthening business ties and noted the significant potential for increasing mutual investment and implementing joint projects. The Indian side was briefed on the socio-economic and institutional reforms underway in Kazakhstan, aimed at diversifying the economy, improving the investment climate, and fostering a favourable business environment.

Particular attention was paid to government support measures for foreign investors, including tax incentives, the development of special economic zones, improvements to the regulatory framework, and the implementation of the “single window” principle in the management of investment projects. Kazakhstan’s strategic position as a key transport and logistics hub providing access to the markets of Central Asia, China, and Europe is emphasized.

Steve Pinheiro provided an overview of Reliance Industries Limited’s operations, noting its pivotal role in India’s economy. According to him, the company is the largest private corporation and has a presence in virtually all key sectors of the economy, including manufacturing, energy, trade, digital technology, services, and others.

As part of its efforts to expand its international operations, the company views Kazakhstan as a promising destination for investment and for strengthening its presence in Central Asia. Of particular interest are the oil and gas sector - including exploration, production, and processing of hydrocarbons - as well as geological exploration for rare earth metals. Particular interest was expressed in projects involving the extraction and processing of lithium for subsequent use in battery production and the development of value chains in the green energy and electric transport sectors. In addition, the company expressed interest in implementing projects to build modern data centres in Kazakhstan. It was emphasized that Reliance Industries Limited already has significant experience in creating and operating digital infrastructure in India, which can be effectively leveraged in the development of similar projects and a digital ecosystem in Kazakhstan.

Company representatives highlighted Kazakhstan’s vast resource potential, favorable business environment, and strategic geographic location. They confirmed their readiness to explore specific initiatives, including participation in joint ventures, technology transfer, and the localization of production.

There is also a strong interest in developing cooperation in the field of education and workforce training. There are plans to establish partnerships with leading Kazakhstani universities by signing relevant memorandums of understanding that provide for academic exchanges, joint educational programs, research, and internships. If the initial phase of cooperation is successfully implemented, the possibility of participating in the creation of a modern university in Kazakhstan will be considered.

A separate session of the talks was devoted to the “Vantara” project, which focuses on wildlife conservation, including the activities of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and reintroduction centres in India. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in biodiversity conservation, the exchange of expertise, and the implementation of best practices in veterinary medicine, the management of protected areas, and the restoration of rare species populations. They also explored opportunities for joint environmental and scientific-educational initiatives aimed at developing professional competencies and institutional capacity.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further deepening their partnership and agreed to continue exploring specific areas of cooperation with a view to implementing joint investment and humanitarian projects.
