Washington, D.C., May 8, 2026 –Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States, Magzhan Ilyassov, spoke at a panel discussion of the “Future Resilience Forum” held on the sidelines of the “AI&Expo” conference, which focused on resilience in the context of the emerging new world order.
The discussion was moderated by British political strategist and founder of the “Future Resilience Forum,” Fiona Hill. Other participants included Barbara DeLeo, expert, and Spencer Kimball, CEO of Cockroach Labs.
The participants discussed the role of Middle powers, supply chain resilience, the development of data centers, artificial intelligence, space infrastructure, and defense technologies amid intensifying geopolitical competition and accelerating technological transformation.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ilyassov noted that the current international system is undergoing a period of profound geopolitical shift and rapid technological advancement, including in the field of artificial intelligence.
“Resilience is becoming the central organizing principle of the new world order. It is in this environment that Middle powers are coming to the forefront – not only as balancing actors, but also as market stabilizers, diplomatic intermediaries, and builders of international coalitions,” the Ambassador emphasized.
The diplomat noted that Kazakhstan’s resilience is determined not only by foreign policy and economic factors, but also by the quality of its domestic institutions. The Ambassador also underscored that Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position as a regional hub for technological and infrastructure development by combining geopolitical flexibility, resource potential, and technological ambition. In particular, Kazakhstan is developing supercomputing capabilities and modern data centers, including the “Data Center Valley” project, strengthening its role as a strategic partner in the field of critical minerals, and expanding the country’s role as a key hub of the Middle Corridor amid the transformation of global supply chains.
