On 8 May 2026, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, sent a congratulatory Letter to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the first anniversary of His pontificate.

In the Letter, the Head of State noted the importance of the consistent appeals by His Holiness to promote the ideals of peace, dialogue and mutual respect, emphasizing their particular significance for the strengthening of human dignity, interfaith harmony and mutual understanding among peoples.

The President of Kazakhstan expressed his high appreciation for the longstanding bonds of friendship and close cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Holy See, and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the further strengthening of bilateral relations.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wished His Holiness Pope Leo XIV good health, well-being and inexhaustible energy in the fulfilment of His noble mission.
