Kazakhstan and Thailand Strengthen Partnership and Expand Economic Cooperation

Bangkok, 6 May 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Thailand Margulan Baimukhan met with Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle Eastern and African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan–Thailand cooperation, including preparations for upcoming joint events at the high and highest levels.

The Thai side reaffirmed its interest in further deepening political dialogue and expanding practical cooperation with Kazakhstan. Particular attention was paid to the development of trade, economic, investment, and transport-logistics cooperation.

The parties discussed the organization of joint business events and forums aimed at promoting new projects and expanding direct contacts between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Thailand. The importance of further improving the bilateral legal and contractual framework was also emphasized.

Special attention was given to transport connectivity and the development of Kazakhstan’s transit and logistics potential as an important link between Asia and Europe.

Urasa Mongkolnavin expressed Thailand’s interest in expanding cooperation in logistics, infrastructure, energy, industry, agriculture, tourism, and digital technologies.

The sides also positively assessed the development of cooperation in humanitarian and medical fields, highlighting the importance of continuing practical interaction in healthcare and exchange of experience.

On the international agenda, the parties exchanged views on regional security, cooperation within ASEAN, and the promotion of international initiatives. The Kazakh side reaffirmed its support for ASEAN centrality in the regional architecture and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation with Southeast Asian countries.

In addition, the Kazakh diplomat informed the Thai side about Kazakhstan’s international initiatives, including the establishment of an International Water Organization, as well as efforts in sustainable development and digitalization, and expressed appreciation to Thailand for constructive cooperation within international organizations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral partnership and maintaining close coordination through diplomatic channels.
