During his official visit to Kazakhstan, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides toured the newly established International Artificial Intelligence Centre alem.ai, which served as the primary showcase for the country's technological capabilities.

The delegation was briefed on Kazakhstan's strategic priorities in artificial intelligence development and digital transformation. The Centre, which supports a full cycle from nurturing talent to deploying AI solutions in the real economy, presented the Astana Smart City system to the visiting delegation -  a comprehensive AI-powered urban infrastructure management platform developed by Presight in partnership with the Astana city administration. The project offered the European guests a clear illustration of how the integration of big data and artificial intelligence technologies enables real-time improvements in the efficiency of municipal services and the quality of life in the capital. Particular attention from the Cypriot President was drawn to practical AI use cases, ranging from public safety to intelligent traffic flow optimisation.

It is worth noting that the visit underscored both nations' commitment to strengthening cooperation in high-technology sectors. On the sidelines of the summit between President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, and in the presence of both heads of state, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of the Republic of Cyprus. The document laid the groundwork for joint initiatives spanning ICT, e-government, space activities, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

Today, the International Centre alem.ai is firmly establishing itself as a premier hub for attracting IT talent, drawing the attention of global technology leaders and foreign heads of state alike, and emerging as Kazakhstan's foremost international stage for showcasing its digital achievements. The Centre brings together presentations of ambitious technological initiatives and serves as the central node of the country's innovation ecosystem.
