Ambassador of Kazakhstan Paid Working Visit to Vientiane

On 27–28 May 2026, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and concurrently accredited to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, H.E. Mr. Kanat Tumysh, paid a working visit to Vientiane.
During the visit, Ambassador Kanat Tumysh met with H.E. Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR. The parties exchanged views on the current state of Kazakhstan–Laos relations and discussed a range of issues concerning bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Particular attention was given to the organization and substantive preparations for the upcoming high-level contacts between the two countries.
Ambassador Kanat Tumysh congratulated the Lao Government on the successful holding of the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party in January this year, as well as the parliamentary elections conducted in March. He expressed confidence that the outcomes of these important political events would contribute to the continued development and prosperity of Laos.
The Ambassador also briefed his Lao counterparts on the ongoing constitutional reforms and political modernization process in Kazakhstan initiated under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He highlighted the country's efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, enhance public participation in governance, and advance the principles of a Just and Fair Kazakhstan. In this context, Ambassador Tumysh informed the Lao side about the upcoming elections to the Kurultai, scheduled to take place in August this year.
