The two-month sanitary campaign has concluded, but sanitary measures continue. More than 168,000 people participated in the two-month sanitation effort, and the scale of work carried out to ensure cleanliness and improvement in the region’s settlements was highlighted. At a meeting of the regional akimat apparatus, the results of the two-month campaign were summarized, and the importance of systematic monitoring of the sanitary condition of settlements was emphasized.

The clean-up events were held over 10 weeks in the cities and districts of the region. More than 168,000 people participated, and 377 pieces of equipment were deployed. During the events, 7,101 streets and 825 parks were cleaned; 9,205 tons of waste were removed from illegal dumps, and 19,697 tons of waste were collected from the streets of settlements. Additionally, the exterior appearance of 464 small architectural structures was restored. Special attention was paid to the sanitary condition of coastal areas — a total of 626 kilometers of coastline was cleaned.

The two-month campaign, launched in our region as part of the national ecological program “Clean Kazakhstan,” ended on May 30. However, work in this area will continue on an ongoing basis. In this regard, the regional governor instructed the city and district akims to maintain strict control over the sanitary condition and improvement of territories.

“I express my gratitude to all citizens who participated in the two-month sanitation campaign. The scale of the work done is clearly visible. Residents, enterprise teams, and organizations actively took part in cleaning and improvement efforts. However, the work does not end here. The most important thing is to maintain cleanliness continuously, not just limit it to campaigns. Our cities and villages must be clean every day, not only after clean-up events. The cleanliness of streets, yards, and parks affects residents’ comfort and their attitude toward the environment. Therefore, I instruct city and district akims to continuously monitor the sanitary condition of territories, ensure timely waste removal, and prevent the formation of illegal dumps. It is also important that residents, especially young people, actively participate in this work. Cleanliness starts from each home, each yard, and each person. Only through joint efforts can we make our cities and villages clean and comfortable,” said regional governor Askhat Shakharov.
