A meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Combating Drug Addiction and Drug-Related Crime was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov. The regional akim, Murat Ergeshbayev, participated via video conference.
The interdepartmental meeting discussed ongoing work in the areas of drug addiction prevention, drug-related crime, and the promotion of drugs in the online space.
Following the Government meeting, a briefing on these and other issues was held, where a number of specific instructions were given to responsible industry leaders.
In particular, it was ordered to strengthen monitoring against drug promotion on the internet and to promptly respond to illegal content on social networks and digital platforms. The task was also set to intensify operational and preventive measures aimed at identifying new channels of drug distribution.
The meeting highlighted the need to strengthen information and explanatory work among youth and adolescents and to conduct systematic preventive work with at-risk groups. Activities in this direction are under constant control of the Presidential Administration and the Government.
The agenda also considered amendments made to the legislation on public service. Non-medical use of narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as driving a vehicle while intoxicated, are recognized as disciplinary offenses damaging the reputation of a public servant. Appearing at the workplace intoxicated or refusing a medical examination are grounds for dismissal.
During the summer vacation season, the effective organization of children's leisure is important. In this regard, the compliance of recreational facilities with safety requirements will be checked. It was instructed to restrict the activities of facilities that do not meet the requirements, enhance road traffic safety, and conduct explanatory work to prevent emergencies.
To monitor minors at night, it is necessary to conduct patrol raids; public safety must not be neglected.
