Kazakhstan and Oman strengthen cooperation in civil aviation and tourism

Muscat, June 9, 2026 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sultanate of Oman A.Tumatov met with the President of the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman Naif bin Ali Al Abri.
During the meeting the parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), as well as prospects for further strengthening bilateral ties in civil aviation, air transport, and aviation infrastructure development.
The Kazakh Ambassador presented ongoing efforts aimed at modernizing the aviation sector, enhancing flight safety standards, upgrading airport infrastructure, and expanding international air connectivity. Particular attention was given to Kazakhstan’s initiatives to strengthen its role as a regional transport and logistics hub.
For his part, Naif Al Abri expressed Oman’s interest in deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan in the aviation sector and highlighted the significant potential for expanding practical collaboration between the relevant authorities of both countries.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing constructive dialogue and enhancing cooperation in air transport, knowledge exchange and the adoption of international best practices.
Adition attention was given to the resuming direct flights on the «Muscat–Almaty–Muscat» route operated by «SalamAir». Both sides emphasized that the restoration of regular air services would contribute to increased business activity, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and broader economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue working together on initiatives aimed at strengthening transport connectivity and advancing bilateral relations.
