Background: The Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea is the government authority responsible for implementing state policy in the field of intellectual property. The Ministry conducts international cooperation in the field of intellectual property, participates in the development and implementation of modern mechanisms for the protection of intellectual property rights, and promotes innovation and the commercialization of intellectual work products.

The Korean delegation included Mr. Jung Ilnam, Director of the Trademark Dispute Resolution Division of the Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Bureau of the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea, as well as Mr. Kim Jaeyeon, Deputy Director of the respective division.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property, including the development of institutional interaction, the exchange of experience in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, and prospective areas for further cooperation.

The participants noted the high level of cooperation between the two authorities and positively assessed the results of jointly conducted activities, including seminars, training programmes and expert consultations aimed at enhancing professional capacity and sharing best practices in the field of intellectual property.

Particular attention was paid to preparations for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea. The parties discussed key areas of future cooperation, including the organization of joint events, exchange of expert experience, development of human resources, and improvement of mechanisms for the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

The parties also reviewed prospects for implementing new joint projects aimed at strengthening partnership relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of intellectual property.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and expressed confidence that the forthcoming signing of the Memorandum would become an important step towards strengthening bilateral ties and creating additional opportunities for the implementation of joint initiatives in the field of intellectual property.
